During 2000/2001, conducted an international review of public access, touch-screen kiosks, including a market analysis of the options available to GMPTE. This included a review of the investment plans for touch-screen kiosks being considered by the local councils within the Greater Manchester Area and the Commonwealth Games (2002) Committee. Also responsible for the preparation of a technical specification against which GMPTE could test the market through the formal tendering process. WarmanConsult assisted GMPTE in the tendering process to select a preferred supplier for installation of 50 touch-screen kiosks in time for the Commonwealth Games in July 2002.

During 2000/2001 Peter Warman was a member of the Real Time Information Group, developing a UK National Strategy and common standards. The forum had representatives from transport authorities and operators. Peter Warman represented the interests of Stagecoach Holdings PLC and was a member of the Technical Group. Also, in 2001, he was part of a project team reviewing the current range of ‘standards’ that are relevant to the Government’s information initiative called ‘Transport Direct.’ 

In 1999/2000, Peter Warman was a project consultant to the FirstGroup Board assisting them to meet the national requirements for an improved public transport information strategy in response to the Government White Paper, the Transport Act and the Ten Year Plan for Transport in the UK.

Appointed by the European Commission in 1999 to lead an International Task Force within the CODE Project. On the Task Force, there were representatives from eight different European countries. The terms of reference of the project were to prepare written guidelines for the implementation of city-wide real time control and information systems for public transport services. This work was completed in July 2000.

In 1999 appointed as a consultant to Action Information (Management) Ltd. This company specialises in the development of real time control and information systems. Peter Warman's particular responsibility is to assist them develop their work in the public transport sector. In January 2000, AIM was commissioned to provide the PTi 2000 Call Centres for Wales. The Company was commissioned to provide similar systems in four English regions: South West, West Midlands, North West and Yorkshire. 

Another project done with AIM was to provide GMPTE with technical guidance on their future role within the real time information strategy that they have adopted. In particular, this was in regard to ‘Data Communications – Requirements, Options and Costs.’ 

In 1997/8 Peter Warman was the project consultant to the City of Chisinau, Moldova, as part of the EU-funded INPHORMM Programme. This project resulted in the development of an information strategy for public transport in the city, the preparation of various publicity materials, including a public transport map and guide and the creation of a unit in the City Council to implement the rest of the strategy. Consultancy work for the City of Chisinau remained on on-going activity with further help in the implementation of the strategy being commissioned in 2001, as part of the TAPESTRY EU-funded programme.

Other work in 1998 in the United Kingdom included projects in Greater Manchester and Southampton assisting the public transport operators and city authorities develop public transport information strategies based on detailed audits of on-street signage and publicity. On-going work in 1999, 2000 and 2001 was concerned with the implementation of these proposals.

A project done in co-operation with the Transport Studies Group, University of Westminster, was the Evaluation of Journey Planner Systems for use at Heathrow Airport. This work was commissioned in 1996 by BAA-Heathrow. Having completed a detailed review, the project team assisted BAA in the selection of a System. A similar review was undertaken in 1999 for GMPTE. 

For the past ten years Peter Warman has worked as a Consultant to FWT assisting them in market analysis and new product development in their specialist activity of publishing maps and providing information systems for the public transport industry in the United Kingdom and, more recently in North America. They have over 80 clients, including long term contracts with Transport for London, British Airports Authority, Centro, GMPTE, SYPTE as well as many other local authorities and public transport operators.

Peter Warman has been commissioned for other projects with bus operators. During 1996-97 he advised London United on the upgrading of their Airbus Services between Heathrow and Central London. Initially this was a market research exercise leading to recommended improvements to the service. Then work was done on improving the operator’s relations and contractual agreements with selected airlines. Finally research and recommendations were made for the introduction of a ‘real time management and control system’ for the Airbus Fleet linked to a computer reservation system. When this system was installed, he prepared a new Procedures Manual for Airbus Service Controllers.

Other work with bus operators in 1996 included Market Research for FirstGroup examining ‘Passenger Priorities associated the Development of Bus Services and Vehicle Specifications’. 

In 1993/4 Peter Warman managed the appraisal of the Route 18 Countdown experiment on behalf of London Transport. This involved a qualitative and ergonomic assessment of the system supplemented by stated preference designed to evaluate its worth to passengers.

Commissions during 1992/3 included assisting Grampian Transport and Grampian Regional Council in the promotion of bus travel in Aberdeen. Particular projects were:
   * Specification and development of a computer-based system for producing colour printed displays for bus stops giving full details of departure times, fares, routes etc. of services from a particular stop.
   * Developing the system specification for a real time control and passenger information system for bus services in Aberdeen. Initially this was for buses in a single corridor in the City and formed part of a bus demonstration project.
   * Development of a software specification to derive bus service reliability statistics from the data captured on Wayfarer ticket machines. The software was written and provides daily and weekly reports on the bus services.

Another project in 1992, for British Rail, involved determining how BR should develop their use of videotext and teletext information services. The work involved discussions with both the users of these services and media information suppliers including BBC Teletext, Teletext UK, Cable TV and Prestel management.
